🌟Introduction🌟
Welcome to ADHD Truths - a space created to share what it’s really like living with ADHD from my own journey and to help you understand this complex condition better.
What is ADHD?
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain processes attention, impulses, and emotions. It’s often misunderstood as just being hyperactive or distracted, but it’s so much more than that. ADHD impacts adults and children alike - it’s not about laziness or lack of effort.
Why did I Created This Site?
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, and that diagnosis changed everything for me. Before then, I struggled with things like time blindness, impulsivity, emotional overwhelm, and sensory sensitivities - all without fully understanding why. Everyday life felt like a battle I couldn’t win.
This site is my way of sharing the realities of ADHD - the good, the difficult, and everything in between - to help others feel seen, understood, and less alone. Here, you won’t find clinical jargon or generic advice. You’ll find honesty, personal stories, and practical insights rooted in my experience.
How ADHD Shows Up for Me?
-
I live with intense time blindness - I’m either really early or late, with no middle ground.
-
Conversations can be tough because my mind races ahead, sometimes causing me to interrupt or lose focus.
-
Emotional sensitivity (especially Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, or RSD) means I feel things deeply - a small comment or tone can stick with me for days.
-
Sensory issues like noise or smells can overwhelm me, making it hard to concentrate or engage socially.
-
I’ve struggled with impulsive eating and weight changes before my diagnosis and treatment.
These are just a few ways ADHD affects my life every day. If you recognize yourself here, know that you’re not alone.
